An Analysis of Mencius and Xunzi and the Philosophy of Human Nature (Hsing) This paper will seek to understand the two Chinese philosphies of Xunzi and Mencius when discussing the innate "human nature" within man. Mencius sees innate goodness within men, and Xunzi claims that there is an innate 'badness' within men. However, both agree that one should constantly cultivate oneself in avoiding 'badness' regardless of origin.
