Freud and Maslow: The Development of Psychoanalytical Theory. Many of the pioneers in the field of psychoanalysis were then either psychiatrists or psychologists. Two such men, Sigmund Freud and Abraham Maslow, were key figures in the development of psychoanalysis. Freud is considered to be one of the pinnacle creators of psychoanalytical theory and thought, while Maslow is a much more recent figure yet is still considered to be highly significant in his work.
